Statement by the Contemporary Ceramic Studios Association February 27, 2008: Fresno, California | The use of lead based glazes in Paint Your Own Pottery (PYOP) studios has greatly concerned the Contemporary Ceramic Studios Association (CCSA). The primary objective of CCSA is to promote safe practices in PYOP studios for both customers and employees.
As part of our Strategic Objectives and the CCSA is working diligently to remind members of the industry to make sure their studios are clean and meet with all environmental safety laws and restrictions. Over the past year, the industry as a whole has moved away from leaded glazes to non-toxic lead free glazes and will continue to work with individual studios around the world to make the transition.
CCSA Supplier Members like Bisque Imports support the transition to non-toxic lead free glazes and is participating in the Duncan Enterprises effort to help studios quickly and efficiently make the transition. | | Paint Your Own Pottery studios offer consumers of all ages the opportunity to develop their artistic pottery skills through a family friendly and affordable activity. In collaboration with our member leaders in the ceramics industry we will continue to promote proper safety standards. It is the safety of our customers and industry professionals that remains our highest priority.
