Amy Latta Creations' Heavily Caffeinated Silkscreen literally says it all. This is a full screen, so it is great to wrap around the barrel of mugs, crocks and canisters. Cover the entire surface of plates and create panels as a pattern on larger items. See tips below!
Tips:
Screen quickly so that the color doesn’t dry in the screen and pull off when removed. If you are doing a flat piece, hold the screen still and lift it occasionally to release the color to the bisque. It’ll drop back down in place so you can continue to screen the design.
If it’s tricky to cover the whole surface and/or avoid folds in the screen, suggest that people create a panel with the pattern instead. Use tape to section off a flat area (or even make patterned “stripes”), then apply the screen. To create a nice solid frame, let the screened area dry, then apply tape over the edge of the screened area, with around ¼” overlap into the blank space so the tape will stick nicely there. Apply three coats of color, then remove the tape for a nice clean border between the solid area and the pattern.
